Botox is a cosmetic injectable used to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face. After quick injections into the facial muscles, it prevents the treated muscles from contracting, and as a result, dynamic wrinkles are prevented from forming. It’s temporary, but it’s effective: the effects of Botox last, on average, around three to five months. (1)
We can’t fight our feelings, and we can’t always help that our faces broadcast them. And while facial expression is normal, so are the effects. Time, gravity, and repetitive facial expressions are all key ingredients for lines and wrinkles. But, for the last 20 years, Botox has been an FDA-approved solution. (2)
Dr. Joshua Korman and the team of Wunderbar MedSpa help many patients to effectively address signs of aging with simple, non-surgical cosmetic treatments like Botox. We offer exceptional personalized treatment with state-of-the-art technology. About Botox

Botox lets patients reduce fine lines and wrinkles so they may enjoy life with a refreshed, rejuvenated appearance. Like other neuromodulators, it is derived from a neurotoxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Botox contains small amounts of the neurotoxin onabotulinumtoxinA, which blocks chemical signals that the nerves send to muscles to contract. Botox blocks the message, so that treated muscles stay relaxed, preventing facial indentations, lines, and wrinkles from forming. (3) As a result, patients experience fewer wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and forehead due to the temporary paralysis of the treated muscles. The widespread use and efficacy of Botox have led to the development of other safe and effective versions of Botulinium-derived toxins. Other neuromodulators include Dysport, which uses abobotulinumtoxinA to treat brow lines, and Xeomin, which contains uses incobotulinumtoxinA.

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox is an extremely versatile cosmetic, in addition to also having important medical uses. At Wunderbar we specialize in Botox for the face and neck. Common treatment areas include:

Forehead lines
Forehead lines are commonly treated with Botox because they are highly visible and frequently occur during facial expressions. Horizontal creases form when we lift our eyebrows, and vertical lines appear when we furrow our brows or frown. These are often called the “11’s” or glabellar lines. Botox is an effective way to keep these lines from forming and deepening, and ensure that patients retain a calm, composed appearance.

Sagging eyebrows
Botox offers a temporary solution to drooping eyebrows. Injections can temporarily relax the muscles that cause eyebrows to descend so that patients have a more alert, pleasant expression, and youthful appearance.

Crow’s feet
These lines accumulate around the corners of the eyes and are visible when we smile, laugh or squint.

Smokers Lines

These vertical wrinkles form around the mouth, whether you smoke or not. They’re also called lipstick lines since lipstick has the unfortunate tendency to travel up them. Botox can relax the muscle above the lip, so that it stays smooth, and so does your lipstick!

Downturned Mouth

As we age, we can find that the outer corners of our lips begin to descend, making us look unhappy, and lips look thinner. Strategic injections of Botox in the corners of the mouth can keep this from happening, and from the resulting wrinkles in the surrounding areas from forming.

Neck Bands
Many patients are concerned by vertical banding in the neck. This is caused by aging platysma muscles, which can give the neck a sinewy, aged appearance. Botox injections can help relax these muscles, smoothing the neck in the process.

Benefits

Some of the benefits of Botox include:

  • Quick, efficient procedure
  • Safe treatment
  • Multiple uses
  • Effective anti-aging solution
  • Few, if any, adverse effects

Candidates for Botox

Good candidates for Botox are in good health, over 18, and don’t suffer from certain chronic illnesses that affect the neuromuscular system. Since Botox targets the muscles, it’s not a solution for “static wrinkles:” the lines and wrinkles that remain visible when the face is at rest. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not candidates for Botox, since its effects on babies are unknown and have not been studied.

Preparation

As a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure, Botox does not require much preparation. Avoiding alcohol the day before and after treatment can avoid the risk of increased bruising. Apart from that, just make sure to baby your skin leading up to your injection appointment so that the treatment area is free from irritation caused by sun exposure or other cosmetic treatments. At Wunderbar, we want to make sure you have the most comfortable experience possible.

Your Botox Injection Session

Before your Botox treatment, begins, you will be asked to sit back and get comfortable on a treatment room chair. The doctor or nurse will then clean your skin. We will be happy to offer you numbing cream to desensitize the area being treated. You will feel some pinching from the needles. Your treatment will last between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the number of areas treated.

Recovery

Once your Botox session is over, you’re free to return to your day! But, for the next four hours, avoid lying on your back, or scratching or applying pressure to the treatment site. This will help prevent the spread of the Botox toxin to the surrounding muscles.

Results

The timeline for visible results varies slightly from patient to patient, depending on the areas treated, and the desired results. While most patients start to see a difference after a few days, it usually takes about two weeks for Botox to take full effect. After about four months, the treated muscles will begin to regain function as the Botox wears off. Patients can schedule regular touch-up appointments to maintain their results. And, after multiple treatments, the targeted facial muscles become less robust, and Botox tends to be effective for longer periods of time.

How Much Does Botox Cost in Mountain View?

Botox is charged by the unit. We customize every one of our treatments to match each patient’s requirements. As highly experienced aesthetic providers, we know that different patients need different amounts of product to produce similar results. For example, the average number of starting units is typically higher for men, who tend to have more muscle mass. (2)  The main areas of the forehead (frontalis muscle), frown lines (glabella), and crow’s feet (periorbital wrinkles) generally require approximately 20 units of Botox. We will be glad to provide a more accurate cost estimate in a one-on-one consultation upon learning more about your needs and goals for Botox treatment. In addition to our Wunderdiscounts, we are pleased to offer Alle coupons for lower prices on Botox.
