Liquid Rhinoplasty

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Mountain View, San Jose and Carmel, CA

A liquid rhinoplasty is a non-surgical procedure to enhance the shape of the nose utilizing dermal filler injections. This approach works best for patients with small bumps and unwanted curves that can easily be contoured or hidden with the subtle volumizing effects of fillers. Injectors can balance out the proportions of the nose, creating a more flattering, symmetrical shape that suits the rest of the face. Every filler is designed to provide long-lasting results within the deeper dermis layer of the skin, where the body can metabolize these biocompatible compounds slowly over time. Each filler compound is made to either provoke collagen renewal over time or attract water molecules to the skin, providing volumization through increased hydration. Although you can expect temporary results from this procedure, you can completely avoid the expensive investment of a standard rhinoplasty and the hassle of recovering from this invasive procedure.

An Innovative Approach to Rhinoplasty

Not everyone wants to go through surgery. It can take weeks to heal and attain the results you are looking for. With surgical rhinoplasties, the nose, in particular, heals much slower due to the comprehensive changes in the cartilage. These procedures are also much more expensive than non-surgical alternatives.

With a non-surgical approach, patients can enjoy their improved nose contours in a more timely and less invasive manner. In the hands of an experienced injector, fillers can resolve dorsal humps on the nose by subtly lifting the adjacent area. It can also correct asymmetries on the side of the nose, improving its side profile. If the side profile of the nose as a whole extends more than you would like, your injector can create a slight rounding effect at the tip, camouflaging its prominence. At Wunderbar, your injector can review with you the two main types of dermal fillers to attain your beautified outcome: hyaluronic acid-based fillers and Bellafill.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is an all-natural compound that our body makes on its own. It is most abundant in the eyes, skin, and joints as a component that provides lubrication and moisture. When administered as microdroplets within the skin of the nose, the molecules work to attract water molecules and provide a slight plumping effect. Research has found that just one molecule of HA can bind to water 1,000 times its own volume. (2) One advantage to HA fillers is that if you do not like the outcome, your injector can administer hyaluronidase to dissolve the HA molecules immediately. At Wunderbar, we offer HA in the form of Juvéderm and Restylane.

Bellafill

Bellafill is a biostimulatory filler, a type of filler made of biocompatible formulations that stimulate the skin to create more collagen and elastin- the essential protein-based fibers required for healthy, young skin. The body eventually processes and metabolizes the microspheres without any complications. Wunderbar offers two types of biostimulatory fillers: Bellafill and Radiesse. Bellafill is made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres and collagen to stimulate your skin’s natural collagen renewal process. Though your skin will absorb the collagen from Bellafill, the PMMA microspheres serve to plump the dermis for up to 5 years, making it a semi-permanent filler. (3) For a non-surgical nose job with Bellafill, patients should expect the most comprehensive benefits from a couple of treatment sessions spaced at least 6 weeks apart.

Personal Consultation

During your consultation with a Wunderbar injector, they will listen closely to your expectations for the procedure and evaluate the asymmetries and other cosmetic irregularities you would like to correct. They will provide you with more information regarding each type of filler and recommend a personalized treatment catered to your unique nose-reshaping needs. For some patients, a non-surgical rhinoplasty is all they need to feel comfortable and confident. For others, this minor procedure can serve as a means to visualize the exact outcome they would like before undergoing a more permanent surgical rhinoplasty.

Procedure Steps

To begin your liquid rhinoplasty, your injector will first lather a topical numbing cream to your nose to minimize the discomfort of the injections. You can request an ice pack as well if you are particularly sensitive. If you have had HA dermal fillers in the nose before, your injector will first inject hyaluronidase to remove any residual filler that may be left. Next, they will begin injecting with your chosen dermal filler/s. They will administer only small “microdroplet” amounts of each filler, preventing the risk of over-injection. According to your needs, they may inject one or more of the following areas: the top of the nose where it meets the forehead (radix), the nasal bridge, the sidewalls, the tip, and the separating tissue between the nostrils (columella). With each injection, they will massage the filler to spread it evenly. If needed, they will change out the needle every few injections to prevent increased discomfort from a dull needle. After the numbing cream sets in, the procedure itself should only take about 20 minutes.

If you plan to have a surgical rhinoplasty in the future, you will need to wait at least 1 year to allow your skin to fully metabolize the filler. Fillers alter the look of your natural anatomy, and it can make for a more difficult procedure if they are still in effect.

Aftercare and Results

Dermal fillers- regardless of their area of application- do not require any downtime. Still, you should avoid using harsh products and placing pressure on the area for about 1 week. You may experience some mild swelling, bruising, or redness right after the procedure, but these side effects are temporary, and you will be able to cover them up with makeup. During this time, you should also avoid taking medications and supplements with blood-thinning properties to prevent excessive bruising. You should aim to only use mild skincare products in the first 2 weeks.

HA fillers will provide more immediate results, whereas Bellafill will create more gradual results as the influx of collagen begins to alter the appearance of your nose structure. If you feel that your results are not dramatic, your Wunderbar injector can provide you with a touch-up session about 2 weeks after your initial liquid rhinoplasty.

Cost of a Liquid Rhinoplasty in San Jose

The cost of your liquid rhinoplasty will depend on the type of dermal filler you receive, the number of injections and/or sessions you undergo, and any follow-up appointment you may need to schedule. Though your injector will give you an overview of the costs involved during your consultation, Wunderbar staff can also assist you in the application process for one of our financing options.

FAQ

Am I a good candidate for a liquid rhinoplasty?

If you have minor nose bumps and asymmetries, you could benefit greatly from a liquid rhinoplasty. Those with rosacea or scarring on the nose may not be good candidates because fillers may permeate through a blood vessel and/or cause more scarring.

How long will the results of a liquid rhinoplasty last?

The modifications of a liquid rhinoplasty will last anywhere from a few months to a few years, depending on the type of dermal filler you receive and your metabolism. Bellafill is the longest-lasting filler you receive for this particular procedure.

Are liquid rhinoplasties painful?

These procedures are not painful, but some patients may experience some discomfort since they utilize injections of dermal fillers. Your injector will give you topical numbing cream and use a fine, sharp needle to mitigate the discomfort as much as possible.

Can a liquid rhinoplasty correct a large nose?

These minor procedures cannot modify your nose to be smaller, but your injector can utilize certain techniques to give the illusion of a smaller nose. For example, they may treat the tip to enlarge that part of the nose to make your nose’s side profile appear less prominent.

How do I prepare for a liquid rhinoplasty?

Patients can best prepare for rhinoplasty with dermal fillers by avoiding blood-thinning medications for at least 1 week and applying an ice pack to the nose immediately before the procedure.
