Dysport

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Mountain View, San Jose and Carmel, CA

Dysport is a fast-acting injectable cosmetic treatment that reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. It’s a type of abobotulinumtoxinA, a neurotoxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Dysport has been FDA-approved since 2009 and is quickly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available.

If you’ve ever worried that your expressions bring out signs of facial aging, you’re not alone. Dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement, are common around the eyes and forehead. Most people develop these wrinkles over time due to aging, heredity, and environmental factors such as sun exposure and smoking. With Dysport, patients can restore a smooth, youthful look to specific areas in a minimally-invasive procedure that’s so short it can fit into a lunch hour!

Are Dysport and Botox the Same?

Dysport is a newer wrinkle relaxer in the same family of injectables as Botox. It works by blocking nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, has a similar makeup to its predecessor, and has comparable results. (1) However, they are not identical. Dysport is composed of smaller molecules than Botox and thus has a larger spread to cover a larger area. This makes it useful for treating dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet, forehead furrows, and neck bands. In addition, Dysport boasts a quicker onset of action, so you can get faster results.

What can be treated with Dysport?

At Wunderbar, we use Dysport to treat dynamic wrinkles on the face, including crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and glabellar (frown) lines. We also use it to reduce the appearance of neck bands, enhance chin projection, and elevate the corners of the mouth.

Benefits of Dysport

Dysport offers several advantages when compared to other wrinkle treatments. It is effective at reducing the appearance of deeper wrinkles and its effects last longer than those of some other injectables.  It is fast-acting, so you can see results in just a few days. It also lasts longer than other treatments, typically up to 4 months. Another benefit of Dysport is that it has fewer side effects than surgical treatments. This makes it a great option for those who are hesitant about more invasive procedures.

Personal Consultation

Before undergoing any cosmetic procedure, it is important to speak with a qualified professional who can assess your medical history, discuss your goals and concerns, and help you make an informed treatment decision. At Wunderbar, our experienced practitioners will take the time to understand your needs before recommending the treatment that is right for you.

During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about Dysport, Botox, and other injectables and learn more about the potential risks and benefits associated with these procedures. We understand that facial aesthetics are important and strive to provide a natural-looking, beautiful result.

Preparation

Once you have decided to proceed with a Dysport procedure, there are a few steps you should take to ensure a successful treatment.

  • Inform your practitioner of any medications you may be taking.
  • Avoid taking aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for two weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol for one week prior to treatment.
  • Do not use any topical products containing Vitamin A for one week prior to treatment.

Dysport Procedure

The procedure is simple and straightforward. Your practitioner will first clean and sanitize the area to be treated. After numbing the area, the Dysport is injected into the desired area using a very fine needle. The injection points are spaced out evenly in order to provide a subtle, natural-looking effect. The entire procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes and you can get back to your daily activities right away.

The Dysport procedure only takes 15-30 minutes and requires no downtime. Dysport injections typically cause minimal discomfort, and you may experience slight redness or swelling at the injection site that fades within a few hours.

Results

Unlike many other injectable treatments, Dysport produces fast results that can be seen in as little as two days. The effects of Dysport typically last 3-4 months, although individual results may vary. After the initial effects wear off, you may choose to repeat the treatment to maintain your results.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Botox

Whether you’re in your 20s or your 50s, or any age in between, Botox can be used to treat forehead wrinkles and other dynamic wrinkles. Many people start to notice wrinkles on their forehead as early as their late 20s, but some may start earlier due to genetics or lifestyle factors such as sun exposure. Botox can help reduce the appearance of these signs of aging and give your skin a smoother, younger-looking appearance.

Juvéderm

Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler used to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as plump up areas of the face where volume has been lost due to aging. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in the body that helps to keep skin hydrated and plump. Juvéderm works by replacing the lost hyaluronic acid, resulting in a more youthful, smoother complexion.

Radiesse

Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) is the active ingredient in Radiesse and is a natural substance found in your bones and teeth. CaHA is biocompatible, meaning it is not rejected by your body, and provides immediate improvement in wrinkles and folds by adding volume under the skin. Over time, Radiesse stimulates the production of collagen, which helps maintain the results of your treatment. One of the most effective uses for Radiesse is hand rejuvenation.

Restylane

The Restylane family of products works by replenishing volume that has been lost over time. It is a popular cosmetic treatment for facial rejuvenation that offers a safe, effective way to restore lost volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Like Juvéderm, Restylane is composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance found in the body. It is used to plump the skin and achieve a more youthful look.
