“Is That A Wrinkle?”

Just like finding our first gray hair, we all remember when we spotted our first wrinkle. It might’ve felt like a monumental moment. To remedy the situation, maybe you turned to expensive topicals or multi-stepped skin care products. Well, at least that’s what the products promised. But, these topicals almost always leave much to be desired. That’s because these products don’t go far enough to reach the operative layers in the skin – the layers responsible for keeping your complexion youthful. Over time, the wrinkles deepen, and the skin care products’ promises remain just that – promises. 

Deep in your skin, fibroblast cells readily produce collagen molecules to repair and replace damaged collagen fibers. These fibers are strong and tensile, but only when we’re young. As we get older and our body’s systems slow down, those fibroblast cells can’t keep up with demand. So, collagen fibers go unsupported. They lose their tensile strength and go lax which leads to skin wrinkling, sagging, and folds. To reverse signs of aging, these fibroblast cells need to be stimulated into producing more collagen. Even the most effective topicals don’t reach far enough to do this.

Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound which is much lower energy than the kinds used in other medical procedures.[1] Ultherapy is a hand-held device that is applied to the skin’s surface to reach the deepest layers. The device pulses ultrasound waves through the skin and into the dermal tissue. These waves create a thermal effect in the tissue, gently heating the dermis to 140°F.  At this temperature, collagen fibers begin to contract, resulting in shorter and thicker bands.[1] This contraction causes the overlying skin to lift and tighten while over time, an influx of new collagen fibers fortifies your results to last for years to come.

Other popular facial rejuvenating procedures include incisions and subsequent scarring after you’ve fully healed. These procedures also use anesthesia to keep you sedated during surgery. Anesthesia comes with its own risks and is not suitable for patients with certain medical conditions, so not all qualify. Simple Procedure

An Ultherapy session takes place in one of our private treatment rooms. An aesthetic nurse will have you lie down and will apply an ultrasound gel onto the target areas. They will take the Ultherapy wand to treat your face, neck, and decolletage area with the Ultherapy device. They will pass the device over your wrinkles and loose skin. You may feel a sensation of heating or tingling. An Ultherapy procedure takes around 90 minutes to complete. Afterward, you will be free to resume your daily routine.

Outstanding Results

Following your Ultherapy session, you might see early results. Loose skin feels tighter and wrinkles are less noticeable. Over the next couple of days and weeks, your dermal cells will use the uptick in collagen production to continually improve these results.

If this is your first time with us, we will begin with a new patient interview and a review of your recent medical history. Before Ultherapy

Because Ultherapy is a simple, non-invasive procedure, required preparations are limited. We recommend coming into your treatment with a clean face (no skin care or makeup products). Before your session, you may take pain-reducing or anti-inflammatory medications if instructed by your doctor beforehand. 

What Does After-Care Look Like?

After your Ultherapy appointment, your skin might be a little tender. Any pain or swelling will subside in the coming days. During this time, please drink plenty of water and eat healthy, nutrient-rich foods. Also, be sure to take care of your skin by applying sunscreen when you’re outside. Ultherapy may take more than one session to see your desired results. We’ll give you further instructions during your follow-up sessions. 

Results

As new collagen molecules repair and replace damaged fibers, the skin gradually recoils, smoothing away wrinkles and tightening loose skin. As more collagen molecules are continuously produced, results improve. Because these results are supported by your body’s own organic molecules, your results will remain for years to come. Is Ultherapy FDA approved?

Yes! In 2009, Ultherapy was the first non-surgical skin tightening device to be FDA approved. 

Does Ultherapy hurt?

Patients report feeling a heating and tingling sensation below the dermis but don’t report any pain.

Can Ultherapy treat jowls?

Yes! Jowls are created when skin loses its elasticity which causes underlying fat pads to shift lower on the face. Ultherapy helps to lift and tighten loose skin, creating a more noticeable jawline.
