Preparing for Restylane Kysse Injections

There is no special preparation required for Restylane Kysse. However, we do recommend that you avoid taking aspirin or other blood-thinning medications prior to your treatment to minimize the risk of bruising. We also recommend that you avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before your treatment. If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend that you talk to your doctor about taking a prescription antiviral medication prior to your treatment; this will help to minimize the risk of developing a cold sore after your treatment. Taking this precaution is especially important with injections around the mouth as it can increase the risk of infection.

The Procedure

After the makeup removal process, Dr. Korman will take photographs from different angles, and then apply a topical anesthesia cream to numb the area to be treated for 20 minutes. However, it is important to note that Restylane Kysse already contains lidocaine to increase patient comfort.

Restylane Kysse is injected into the lips using a fine gauge needle. The treatment is relatively quick, taking only about 30 minutes to complete. After your treatment, you may have some mild swelling and bruising around the injection site; this is normal and should resolve within a few days.

Recovery After Restylane Kysse

After your treatment, we will provide you with post-care instructions. We recommend that you avoid strenuous activity and exposure to sunlight or heat for at least 24 hours after your treatment. It is also important to avoid rubbing or massaging the injection site as this can cause the product to migrate.

What are the Results of Restylane Kysse Injections?

You will see immediate results from Restylane Kysse. However, the full results will become evident as the swelling and bruising around the injection site subsides. The results from Restylane Kysse can last up to a year, however, everyone is different, and the results you experience may vary. Optimal lip color enhancement presents at eight weeks post-treatment. ^[2]

To maintain your results, you will need to schedule touch-up treatments as needed. The frequency of these treatments will depend on how quickly your body metabolizes the filler.
